View Full Version : Double HD Channels - only one tunes

We took a power hit at the house not so long ago and when everything rebooted one of my HD channels was listed in the channel lineup and Guide twice. The problem is the "first" 652 doesn't tune in and the second is the actual channel. Even when I remove the first 652 in the channel line up (and can change channels in live tv successfully) when I try to record something on that channel it tunes to the one it can't tune it and does not record the program. If I go to live tv while it is trying to record I see a grey screen. Hitting channel up takes me to the actual 652. I have rebooted the system a number of times and tried turning on and off the first and second listing of 652 in channels I receive, but nothing seems to work.

Any clues? Anyone seen anything like this?

Did you try repeating Guided Setup? If that doesn't help, having the cable company "hit" your cableCARDs could work.

Thanks for the input. For some reason the cable folks tell me hitting the cable cards could fry them, but of course it did not. They really are afraid of those things... Anyway, all is good now.

Oh, they always say that. (Ages ago when Adelphia DID have problems with digital boxes losing authorization) they would refuse a second hit on the same day of an earlier requested one - same logc - it'll fry our box! Well, have they considered that maybe I LIKE tempura! :) Luckily, an hour or two after the first requested hit, cable boxes would start working.

With my CableCards, over the 24 hours of non-working status, I called and obtained 7 & 9 hits respectivey - solved nothing, the tech had them redo the authorixation, order or items on my account and cold initialize the cards for it to start working!

I had this exact same problem and it lead to me having to have the cablecards replaced. I would have channels drop, I would have to reboot to get them back, and then I'd have double channels.

Eventually the cablecards didnt work at all. I had them replaced and the problem has gone away completely.

Yup, I've seen this - on the same channel (are you in Colorado?)

Seems like a bug to me - if it still shows up after re-selecting your channel line up, remove the bad duplicate from the channel guide.

count me in for the exact same problem, double HD channels with only one of them actually tuning... i.e. i have 2 Channel 704s, with the second one being able to tune... any fixes work for anyone?? id rather not have to deal with getting new cablecards...

any more ideas to fix this? repeat guided setup makes it go away for a few days, but it has since come back...

Same problem here... I can no longer tape anything in Showtime HD or HBO HD because those channels are showing up as duplicates. Is this a S3 problem or a Comcast problem? Any solutions are certainly appreciated.

Uncheck the duplicated channel. That should work. Setup, channels, uncheck channels and done.
