Series 2 freezing on playback?

I have an 80gig Series 2 TiVo that freezes on playback at random times. It will also freeze at the same point when doing a transfer from that TiVo to the other TiVo. I thought this was a hard drive going bad, so I replaced it and it does it still. Any advice as to what may be the cause, and what I can do to resolve this? Thanks.

Lifetime sub? If not, sell it off on ebay, get another unit, and then transfer your monthly sub over to it to avoid the new fees.

Yes, there is a lifetime on the unit, so that makes it all the more difficult to get rid of. Unless TiVo has allowed lifetime transfers to another box without me being aware, I pretty much need to fix this one.

You can transfer lifetime to a Series 3 box until the end of the year.
