We have recently moved into our RV. I didn't worry about the Tivo because I knew dh was getting Verizon wireless cell phone internet for our laptop and assumed that he could hook up some sort of network (we have the external USB device or whatever that we used for our wireless network at home) and all would be good. Now he is telling me he can't do that.

So what do I do? I suppose I could take my Tivo and TV into the campground office every time we stop, since it is a local call, but that seems like a huge hassle - especially since I'd have to do it every three or four days with three small kids (the oldest only 5) behind me. I don't mind downloading from my motorhome, but I'm not sure I can take the hassle of the office.

Any other suggestions? I know this can be done, but it drives me nuts thinking about how. I'm considering canceling my Tivo, which I don't want to do; I think I'll be highly depressed to lose it, but I hate to pay and not use it.

Thanks!
SG

It should be possible to gateway the Tivo through the laptop, using a serial cable, wireless or wired ethernet. I've never done it myslef, but most of the details should around in the archives.

you could use internet connection sharing from the laptop and hook the tivo up to the laptop with a cross over ethernet cable

Or he could set up a wireless network in his RV. Don't most parks now have wireless access, for a fee? Then all he would need to do is just wirelessly hook up to the campground/park network? Like a wireless hotspot.
I'm just throwing suggestions out here, never been to one of those places myself.

here's my two cents, whenever you want to update the tivo information, pull into a taco bell or other establishment with free wifi, park the rv, connect to the wireless network, force an update and then be on your way...

Don't forget IHOP's wireless....those darn pancake pushers are everywhere.

(yes I am here right now using the wireless)
