New programming

"Nature's Christmas in Yellowstone" (7 tonight, WEAO Channel 49; 8 tonight, WVIZ Channel 25) -- The PBS series celebrates the winter wonderland of wildlife and pristine landscapes deep within Yellowstone National Park.

"Desperate Crossing" (8 tonight, The History Channel) -- This three-hour cable special explores the harsh realities behind the classroom lessons about the Mayflower, the Plymouth Colony pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving.

"Everybody Hates Chris" (8 p.m. Monday, WBNX Channel 55) -- Wayne Brady is the guest star in the Thanksgiving episode of the CW comedy.

"How I Met Your Mother" (8 p.m. Monday, WOIO Channel 19) -- The CBS comedy airs a holiday episode with Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) uncovering a secret about Robin (Cobie Smulders) and her aversion to shopping malls.

"Thanksgiving Unstuffed" (10 p.m. Monday, National Geographic Channel) -- This special examines the myths, rituals and science of the holiday.

"Top Chef" (10 p.m. Wednesday, Bravo) -- The series' sixth episode has a Thanksgiving theme, with contestants preparing a holiday dinner using only canned goods.

"Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" (9 a.m. Thursday, WKYC Channel 3) -- New "Today" show co-anchor Meredith Vieira joins Matt Lauer and former Cleveland weatherman Al Roker for NBC's coverage of the annual parade in Manhattan.

"Ugly Betty" (8 p.m. Thursday, WEWS Channel 5) -- Betty (America Ferrera) isn't feeling very thankful, when the day after the holiday she has to work on a hastily arranged photo shoot.

"ER" (10 p.m. Thursday, Channel 3) -- While heading home for Thanksgiving, Abby (Maura Tierney) responds to a bus crash on the side of a ravine.

"Desperate Housewives" (9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, Channel 5) -- It's holiday time on Wisteria Lane.

"The Great American Christmas" (9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, Channel 3) -- Howie Mandel hosts a special that examines the holiday through the eyes of six families.

"Christmas in Rockefeller Center" (8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, Channel 3) -- Roker and Ann Curry host the annual special.

"Ugly Betty" (8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, Channel 5) -- It's time for Mode magazine's annual holiday party.

"Tyler's Ultimate: Ultimate Holiday Table" (9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, Food Network) -- Tyler Florence works his magic for the holidays in this special, which will be followed by an entire morning of holiday-themed episodes.

"The Christmas Card" (9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, Hallmark Channel) -- Ed Asner ("Lou Grant") and John Newton ("Desperate Housewives") star in a cable movie about a career soldier who takes a leave of absence to search for the young woman who has written him a deeply touching but anonymous Christmas card.

"A Dad for Christmas" (9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, Lifetime) -- Kristopher Turner has the lead role in this cable movie about a young man who wants to be a real father to his girlfriend's baby. Louise Fletcher also stars.

"Rick Steves' European Christmas" (7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, WVIZ Channel 25; 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, WEAO Channel 49) -- This special looks at how seven diverse cultures celebrate Christmas.

"Under the Mistletoe" (9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, Lifetime) -- Jamie Ray Newman plays a devoted single mother who complains about the superficial aspects of dating while on a radio show.

"Tim Janis: The American Christmas Carol" (9:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, Channel 25; 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, WEAO Channel 49) -- Guests Paul Baloche, Jadon Lavik, Shannon Wexelberg and Lynn Witty join the composer for a musical special narrated by James Earl Jones.

"Andre Rieu: Christmas Around the World" (7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, Channel 25) -- This musical special collects holiday hymns from around the world.

"Go, Diego, Go!" (Noon Friday, Dec. 8, Nickelodeon) -- The children's series' first holiday special, "Diego Saves Christmas," follows little Diego as he tries to help Santa.

"The Wonder Pets" (12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, Nickelodeon) -- The team goes on a mission to save a baby reindeer.

"Essence of Emeril: Christmas Holiday" (8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, Food Network) -- Baked ham and rum glaze are on the menu for the colorful chef's special.

"A Christmas Mikey" (7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, Nickelodeon) -- The anime comedy series draws on several classic stories in this Christmas episode. Mikey, an actor from Cleveland who becomes a star in Japan, suffers a crisis of confidence and thinks about returning home.

"What I Did for Love" (9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, Hallmark Channel) -- Jeremy London has the lead role in this cable movie about a hotshot Los Angeles lawyer who visits his girlfriend's family ranch for Christmas.

"Santa Baby" (8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, ABC Family) -- This cable movie stars Jenny McCarthy as Santa's daughter, Mary, a New York business executive who returns to the North Pole. George Wendt plays Santa.

"Christmas on Chestnut Street" (9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, Lifetime) -- Kristen Dalton stars in the cable movie about a store owner who has ordered 60,000 Christmas lights. A lights contest soon puts the entire town at odds.

"Everybody Hates Chris" (8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, Channel 55) -- Young Chris lands in the hospital in the Christmas episode of comedian Chris Rock's series based on his Brooklyn childhood.

"The Year Without a Santa Claus" (9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, Channel 3) -- John Goodman is Santa Claus in this TV movie based on the book by Phyllis McGinley. Afraid that people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas, Santa decides to skip a year of delivering presents.

"A Christmas Wedding" (9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, Lifetime) -- A young couple plans a glamorous yuletide union in this cable movie starring Eric Mabius ("Ugly Betty"), Sarah Paulson ("Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip") and Dean Cain ("Las Vegas").

"Christmas in Washington" (10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, TNT) -- Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw return as hosts.

"Christmas With the Dickinsons" (10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, Oxygen) -- With the merry mayhem of over-the-top model-turned-mogul Janice Dickinson, it's anything but a traditional Christmas special.

"Christmas Do-Over" (8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, ABC Family) -- Jay Mohr and Daphne Zuniga team up for this Christmas comedy about second chances.

"Naturally Sadie" (8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, The Disney Channel) -- The cable series celebrates "A Very Sadie Christmas," with each story narrated by Sadie in Christmas rhyme.

"American Dragon: Jake Long" (8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, The Disney Channel) -- In the holiday episode, "Hairy Christmas," Jake rebels against his family's humiliating holiday traditions but learns to appreciate them when rescuing a baby sasquatch separated from its family.

"The Road to Christmas" (8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, Lifetime) -- Jennifer Grey plays a fashion photographer whose plans for a storybook Rocky Mountain wedding hit the rocks. The cable movie also stars Clark Gregg.

"A Perfect Day" (8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, TNT) -- Rob Lowe stars in this holiday cable movie about a man who, after being fired from his job, pursues his dream of writing a book.

“All She Wants for Christmas” (9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, Lifetime) – Monica Keena plays a graduate student trying to save a small-town Christmas ornament company in danger of being closed.

“Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir” (8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, Channel 25; 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, Channel 49) – Two-time Grammy winner Renee Fleming and British actress Claire Bloom are the guests for the annual holiday concert in Temple Square.

“Great Performances” (9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, Channel 25 and Channel 49) – Fleming presents sacred songs and carols in a concert recorded in Germany's Mainz Cathedral.

“Home for the Holidays” (8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, Channel 19) – The CBS special blending performances and stories about adoption features Five for Fighting, John Legend, Katharine McPhee, Cedric the Entertainer, Miley Cyrus, Laura Dern, Angie Harmon, Akron native Melina Kanakaredes and Jeri Ryan.

“March of the Penguins” (9 p.m. Saturday, Hallmark Chanel) – It wasn't filmed at the North Pole, but the Oscar-winning documentary could become a holiday viewing tradition. This is its television premiere.

“The Bishop's Wife” (10 a.m. Nov. 26, TCM) – Cary Grant is an angel helping a bishop (David Niven) in this Christmas classic.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” (8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, Channel 5) – Charlie Brown learns what Christmas is all about in the 1965 animated special.

“Frosty's Winter Wonderland” (7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, ABC Family) – Andy Griffith and Shelley Winters provide voices for this special.

“The Polar Express” (8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, Channel 5) – Tom Hanks plays several roles, including Santa, in the film directed by Robert Zemeckis.

“White Christmas” (8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, TCM) – Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye sing and joke their way through this seasonal favorite packed with Irving Berlin tunes.

“Santa Claus: The Movie” (11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, ABC Family) – Dudley Moore and John Lithgow star in this movie about a ruthless businessman threatening Santa.

“The Santa Clause 2” (8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, The Disney Channel) – Tim Allen stars in the 2002 sequel to the 1994 hit about Scott Calvin, a self-absorbed businessman who discovers that Santa's suit is a perfect fit.

“National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation” (8 and 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, TBS) – Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) seeks the ideal Christmas holiday.
