Wow, I did not expect the Ice Truck killer reveal to happen so soon, but it does look like many had predicted who it was correctly. ;)
During the flashbacks Dexter had during his session with the shrink, did you see the last one? It looked like a toddler sitting in a pool of blood. Anyone think that was from Dexter's childhood, and how he ended up being for adoption?

I do like the pace of this show. Not Lost and not the OC. Kinda in between.

I just watched all the episodes on demand this weekend. It was obvious that the doctor was ice truck killer from the first scene he appeared. By the time it was revealed, it was REALLY obvious. But yet they played it like we were supposed to be incredibly shocked. Ah well, maybe some people were.

I am a little disappointed that they are having Deb fall in love with the killer it is a bit cliche but I am going to have faith they know what they are doing. Other than that the last scene with him walking into his home cooler was just done perfectly.

It's cliche, I agree, but at least it makes more sense than usual here. She was surrounded by a future serial killer and his sensei growing up. She probably likes weird, creepy guys. If only I could get her phone number...

Now I am really dissapointed. I just looked up the IMDB info on the actress that plays Deb. We have been complaining all season about her horrible acting...she went to Juilliard.

It doesn't say that she graduated. Maybe she was booted. And to be fair, she's nowhere near as awful as rebecca pidgeon who is also well-schooled.

True. Rebecca Pidgeon is always the worst part about a Mamet film.

I think it was revealed earlier on that a 3 year old Dexter was found in the middle of a crime scene by the adoptive father.

There are 4 more episodes, so there's time to flesh things out a bit.

It was also an episode that was all about people being good at reading and manipulating other people...it's just that this example wasn't as obvious as the others until the end.

Another excellent episode... I had a strong feeling it was the Dr after seeing his 'obsession' with limbs...
The LT is going to have a nice payback planned....

There for a while, I was wondering if the sister was the person messing with his mind. Sibling rivalry, and all that.

I don't think I've seen this mentioned in previous threads yet.
As far as the book Darkly Dreaming Dexter (little spoiler):
They've stayed somewhat true, but they've veered off also - as you'd expect from trying to make a series from two published novels.
During the flashbacks Dexter had during his session with the shrink, did you see the last one? It looked like a toddler sitting in a pool of blood. Anyone think that was from Dexter's childhood, and how he ended up being for adoption?
(Bigger Spoiler)
The toddler and pool of blood was referenced at the end of the first book. The context of how Dexter remembers it is different, however.
So, if some of you have been debating about reading the book - you may want to unspoil my markers. We may be at a point as viewers where you can read the first book without spoilers to the series.

Having read the first book but not yet watched the latest episode I hope that the series does not end like the book.
I think the TV series is actually better than the book.

I'm also surprised at the early reveal of ITK. But, if he's going to be a main on screen character, then I guess it's a good thing to go ahead and show that he is THE killer, rather than just A killer if the writers don't want people to peg him as a mere red herring (as I did, being too clever fall for the obvious). This way skeptical people looking out for a "twist" won't be distracted from the story that the writers are trying to tell.
I wonder if Dexter is actually feeling something for Rita now, or if he's still just "pretending". I guess when Paul inevitably snaps and beats her and/or the kids we'll find out.

I don't think the reveal is all that early. We're eight down, four to go, and heading into the "final act." And with ICTK revealed, we get more tension for the home stretch (what will he do to Sis?).

I wasn' t shocked, I was disappointed. I like the shockers, but this one was too obvious and easy.

+1
What will be interesting to see is how early or if they reveal the ITK to Dexter. And if they do, then seeing what wins out: his long-awaited desire to learn from/share with the ITK and keeping him alive vs. saving his sister from being frozen, sliced-and-diced. :p
