It should almost be no surprise that due to whatever nonsense went on with the episode naming change from last week has affected TiVo's ability to behave. I fortunately caught it, though too late for the first 10 or 12 minutes of the show -- gotta watch online for that.

I'm glad the pension fund thread is pretty much over. And it was good having Rob Lowe around, especially in a political role. That just seems to fit him well (and I suppose it even goes well with the sex tape scandal from decades back) and look forward to his becoming a regular cast member.

I can't believe Kevin put water in the engine. I was all worried he was going to get burned playing with the radiator fill cap when it was hot like that; now I understand why he didn't :) Oh, and good job in the bar, Kevin! (Though I prefer Scotty).

I caught it about 5 minutes in and luckily I had a tuner already on ABC, so I got the whole thing with no loss...

It seems that every single week I like Sally Field's character less and less. She's always been a terrible mother who tries to manipulate her children in the name of love, but she really went too far this time. Sending in a form letter for her grown son because she doesn't want him to join the army?!? I'd want to be a continent away from that woman too!

Arrrgh! I'm so upset! I saw this thread and realized it was supposed to be on tonight, but obviously missed it. No upcoming showings listed either, so it's not even rerunning on another station. I'll have to remember to catch it online. Grrrr!

Next week Boston Legal is in the timeslot, even saw a lot of promos pushing it. My 622 recorded last night's without any problems, it is set to only record new events.

Thanks Dave! That's what mine's showing for next week too and was afraid programming was off here, but relieved that it's across the board so I'm not missing another episode. ;0)

I need to become more acquainted with my friends. I hardly ever leave the Now Playing area.

Oh, crap, I'm not going to have this on my TiVo when I get home tonight, am I?

Gorram ABC and TiVo!

I'll have to watch it on abc.com tonight at home.

Apparently it did record on some Tivos without trouble. I told a friend to check hers, fully expecting it not to be there, and it was recorded on hers, so I guess it's just hit and miss. You may still have a chance. ;0)

Well, no luck on watching it on ABC either...it's the one show they don't seem to run full episodes of. Go figure.
I tried the torrent thing a while back and gave up, so I'll just have to hope that they rerun this episode sometime. :0(
I don't understand why changing the title of the show would have affected whether or not it would be recorded...I think mine's set up to record all episodes. Oh well, win some, lose some.

Perhaps you should just give it another try. :)

I probably should, as handy as they seem to be...maybe I will later in the week when I'm not feeling so lazy, lol. Thanks for posting the link btw! ;0)

Back to the episode. Anyone else notice Robert Lowe's character was Senator Robert McCallister, as in "Jack and Bobby?"

Was Bobby a senator in that series? I thought he was a congressman and then governor of Missouri.

Was Bobby a senator in that series? I thought he was a governor.I don't remember, but I'm only meant to point out the name, in spite of how I badly phrased the question, since I'm pretty sure they aren't the same character. These are both Greg Berlanti shows, so I think this was just a "shout out."

Doug, thank you so much for posting that! It took 5 hours to download, but I was thrilled to be able to watch it! You miss so much when you miss just one.

It was a good episode, enjoyed the way they finally wrapped up the pension fund issue. Liked Sally telling Treat he doesn't always have to come over just nail something. :) I like how story lines move along at a brisk pace, unlike other shows we like that trudge along.

I'm late to the party on discussing this episode, but I was a little surprised how quickly the pension fund/bankruptcy story was resolved. I just get the feeling that this was Berlanti's way of closing the door on one of the story lines created for this series before he took over as show-runner. I think this is a good sign, and having loved Everwood and Jack & Bobby, I can't wait to see what else he has in store for these characters ...

I downloaded the torrent, but I can't get it to work on my Mac. There is no video. What am I missing?

Thanks for the torrent link, Doug.

Someone will likely chime in with a Mac-specific answer, but what you're missing is a way to decode the DivX or XviD video format that is used in most of these TV video files you get via Bittorrent. In the PC world, it involves installing a codec such as that from www.divx.com to view.

I know you got this to work, but if you are looking for another player to use on your Mac, check out VLC. It's what I use for playing the AVIs I get via bit torrent.

I'll check VLC out as well. I don't normally do torrents, but the spouse was really upset when our Tivo missed this episode, and Doug made it much too easy to download :)
