Anyone know of a standalone version of Wordsmith for something like a game boy or similar device or even pc? My mom is obsessed with this and I thought it would make a great Christmas gift. Even a game similar to it would be great.

Not that I'm aware of.

I wrote the original version many (many!) years ago for the Mac, I have no idea if its still available anywhere, there was also a java applet version that I wrote when I worked for espn.com some 10 years ago. I haven't seen that version around in a very long time though.

I don't think there are any other versions around, though I'm sure there are similar games. Hopefully someone will recommend one.

Glad to hear that your mom likes the game!

Could I ask you guys what in the world this has to do with TiVo?

This is a forum for TiVo Discussion. Not a discussion on just any old topic. (The thread title doesn't even say "Off Topic".)

Was this exchange between you two set up, a case of spam?

Perhaps the OP meant to put this on Happy Hour and made a mistake?

If you repost there, or if the moderators move this post, there's several knowledgeable video game junkies in Happy Hour who could make a recommendation for you.
