I need help

I have had my Tivo for almost a year,I recently got rid of my phone line not realizing I needed it for the Tivo. I know that I have Roadrunner Lite and I should be able to download off of my computer.I was told that to do this I will need an adapter and something called a wireless router which I don't really know what it is for. Can someone please tell me in simple terms what all this is for and is it easy to hook up from my Tivo to my computer. I also know I can get the adapter at Best Buy which is a big electronic store,but when I looked up routers the prices were very different ,I don't have a lot of money and I'm looking for something about $30 to $50 at the most.Can I get a Router for this price?

The above is an example of a good quality wireless router. It's on sale of 49.99. You can also get less expensive ones, if you go to Best Buy and ask an associate.

A router hooks up between your DSL/Cable modem and the computer. It is a way to allow other devices to connect to your computer and internet, either wirelessly or through an ethernet cable. My suggestion is to get a G-rated router; it gives the best combination of speed and price (N is faster, B is slower).

An adapter connects to any device that wants to connect to the router. You'll need a wireless adapter connected to your Tivo through the USB port in the back of the Tivo.

Once you have a router, you will be able to connect laptops, game consoles, etc to your computer and internet as well.

Wireless router makes it confusing!

A router is like a splitter with usually 4 ports, which lets you connect multiple devices to your roadrunner lite.

When you get a Wireless Router it gives you the option of using cords which looks just like a phone cord, just bigger.

Your computer should have one of these cords connected to it already, if not you have a Wireless connection to you roadrunner and you might just have a Wireless Router already.
