Is there a way to lock my recordings so that they cant be stopped during recording. I cant tell you how many times I have started watching a show and it stops half way thru because one of my children wanted to watch something else.
Sure: tell them not to do it.
There's no way to prevent the option in the UI.

Hide the remote?

I've never used it, but shouldn't the Parental Controls (not KidZone) work for this? I remember there was some kind of password settings there...

Ill +1 that.
I mean, "parental control" was something that was used long before there were parental controls on TV's and DVRs. Back then, if parental controls took a whole new meaning.

You could split the cable signal so that your kids can watch live TV while the Tivo is recording.

Another person posted the same question, but for their roomate a few weeks back.
What I do:
Kids have full access to the Tivo in the living room. The Tivo's in the game room and my room are used completely for our SP's and other recorded items.
I have instructed the children on " the rules" and the consequences of breaking them.
They decided to watch TV in my room one day while my wife and I were out. They stopped my shows from recording. I took them into the living room, asked which shows on the Tivo they wanted to keep. I proceeded to delete every last one of their favorite shows that weren't on any longer.
I did not yell or scream (although they did). I then explained to them the importance of following the set "rules".
This happened over 6 months ago. No further problems.

True, but what's wrong with them ASKING to stop a recording?
Especially since it takes 3-4 keystrokes to stop a recording and you get a warning!

I was just waiting for the obligatory non-replies about how he should just handle it differently...

in the same veign my kids had that lovely habit of not coming when called or else lazing around when supposed to begetting ready to go somewheer etc.. I started a policy of if they were watching TV in the Playroom I would go in there adn pause the show explain, it was on TiVo so they could have watched it later adn then proceed to permanently delete the show. A few times of that and response times went way up ;)
as to the idea of how to prevent it - I can not recall if Kid Zone lets you stop a recording in progress or not.

Break their little grubby fingers? They'll only do it once.

Kick them in the butt. Or as Homer Simpson would say ‘Someone is hankering for a spankering’.

Record things that they will want to watch.
Then tell them instead of changing the channel, watch something already Tivoed.
Behavior modification is best, be it denying them their recordings or denying them access to the TiVo. Otherwise, you could give them a special programmable remote that doesn't include the IR controls that allow them to abort recordings (Right and Select). Keep all other remotes out of their access, including and especially cable box remotes.
Unless you have a TiVo with front panel controls; then you need to block physical access to the TiVo as well.

Retroactive birth control. After all TV is MUCH more important than kids, or even adults.

Just explain that they can't do that, and the consequences (punishment) if it happens again.
Or you could just unplug / lock the TV when your not there.

Heh; I still remember when I first realized that TV didn't stop when I left the room. Some Saturday morning I was watching Bugs Bunny and my Mother made me go out with her to run an errand. I left quietly, thinking I could finish watching Bugs when I got home. I threw quite a fit when I turned the TV back on and there was no Bunny.
I suppose that particular memory may contribute for my happiness with TiVo (not necessarily the Series 3, but TiVo in general). Of course, kids today just hit "pause". <sigh>

not 100% positive, but i think kidzone might stop it.
