I believe my Series2 DT is 100BaseT, although the actual transfer rates are slower because it can't DRM it fast enough in real-time.

yes the ports on S2 S3 are 10/100.

But to clarify - DRM is done at the time of recording to the hard drive. No DRM is done at the time of MRV/TTG save for the checking of the Media Access Key and creating a small bit of header detail for TTG.

there are otehr reasons that throttle MRV - it is lower priority then a realtime recording or playback on the main DVR. This includes recording the live TV buffer - changing the channel to one with no signal and thus stopping the buffer recording will speed things up.

TTG does have to mux the video and audio together intop a single file format of mpeg2 useable on the PC. That does take CPU resources. Also I think it is slightly lower priority than MRV even.

MRV is a straight copy. Something is happening to a the Tivo recording when it is spit out as a TTG file , to slow down the network a bit.

Series 3 doesn't have video transfers yet, if it ever will

I don't see why the S3 won't have some soft of transfers like the S2s. I am guessing Tivo is waiting for the word to see if they can do HD or not from CableLabs and then will program accordenly cause it would be stupid to program twice if you can do it all at once.
