I would like to use my tivo without having an account with Tivo. All I really want to be able to do is fastforward, rewind, and pause live tv. No need for recording.

Ummm.. It doesnt work that way. The Tivo Box is the hardware end of a Subscription service.

Actually, that is exactly how it works. Without a subscription all you can do is pause, fast forward and rewind live tv and that's all that barbaloot wants.
