I had a Series 1 TiVo since 2001. It seemed like shortly after I got the TiVo I started having sound problems with my TV (which is probably less than a year older than the TiVo). Suddenly the sound would get lower (or higher) on it's own then soon after it would completely either lose all sound or change to a static sound. The only way to fix this was to unplug the TV and plug it back in. At the time I contacted TiVo (who blamed my TV) and my TV (who blamed TiVo). I learned to live with the problem. It didn't happen that often and was an easy fix. Well, a few days ago I upgraded to a Series 2 DT. Last night in the space of a half hour I lost sound (to static) 7 times. This morning it seemed fine when I watched an hour long program. Then tonight within the first minute of a show I again lost sound about 3-4 times. I gave up and turned it off. My TV works fine other than that and I really don't want to go out and get a new TV (but I have been looking online at the ads!). I am 99.99999% positive it is that my TV does not like TiVo's (although I don't know what sense that makes) since it has happened with 2 different TiVo's. Also, since it has happened so many times through the years I know it is not with one particular software version. My question is has anyone else ever experienced this or does anyone have an idea/solution/suggestion?

Thanks

What's the source for the TiVo? If it is cable box, maybe it's the problem.

That is the other thing I forgot to mention. When I started having these problems years ago I had a regular basic cable box. For the past 3 years I have had a digital cable box.

Last night I noticed that both times that I have lost sound with the S2 TiVo I was watching a 30 minute program recorded from a cable channel (one regular then one digital). But in the past it has happened with regular channels, when watching Live, when watching recorded. I guess I am mostly frustrated that when it has happened the past couple days it happened repeatedly...to the point of me watching last night with the sound off and CC on!

I've had this same problem also, but i've never thought it was my Tivo, since the sound is really controled by my TV. I have a GE TV and have had tons of problems with it since the warrenty went out :)(other online have had problems with this tv also, without a tivo) . true the sound is coming through the Tivo.. but why would we then have to unplug (reboot) the TV to fix it.. so I still think it's the TV
