I had some trouble with my Directv HD Tivo receiver. Directv sent out a technician who said the receiver may have to be replaced. He told me that Directv no longer offers Tivo units but has another brand with similar features. Does anyone have experience with these units? Are they are as user friendly as Tivo? I have a warranty from Directv so the new unit would be free but I hate to give up Tivo for something unknown.

DirecTV should actually still have replacement HR10-250 HD DirecTivo's available to replace failed units. You should call DirecTV about this rather than going through an installer.
The HR20 is the new non-Tivo HD DVR. More information about it can be found here ....

Search for R15 on this board. That is the DTV replacement. It is not a TiVo. Also on dbstalk, there is discussion of this unit.

Not for HD. The HR20 is the NDS DirecTV HD DVR.

Thanks for the correction. I guess I missed the obvious HD in the OP.
