for some reason today, i was watching live tv and the audio level went down. tried changing channels and it was silent still.
switched over to my normal tv viewing instead of through the tivo, and the volume was fine.
after a few minutes, the live tv volume finally went back to normal, except it is now stuck at that level for some reason

my tivo outputs rca to the tv, and the volume is controled by the tv.
i turned the tv volume on zero, and the tivo is still somehow playing a program at normal volume. i dont' see how that is possible since the tv volume is zero.
changing the tv volume up or down does nothing since it's stuck at this loud volume.

oddly enough, mute works

so somehow my tivo is outputting this loud volume and changing the tv volume does nothing.

help!

i've alread reset it, and even unplugged it a few times

If your TiVo is feeding audio into your TV thru audio input jacks, and the TV's volume control is failing to reduce the audio when you turn it down, the problem is with the TV, not the TiVo.

Your volume control on the TV has no effect on the TiVo box or its audio output. It controls your TV and your TV only.

You say you "switched over to my normal tv viewing instead of through the tivo, and the volume was fine." What did this involve? Do you have a cable feed going into the TV thru the RF or thru other A/V jacks?

If your "not thru the TiVo" setup is working normally, but any audio coming in from the TiVo is refusing to go up or down when you adjust the TV's volume, then it's having trouble controling its own A/V jacks...namely, the ones taking the feed from the TiVo.

Sounds like its having no trouble with the volume where its tuner or another set of jacks is concerned.

You're not using some other box, a receiver, to actually take and produce the TiVo audio?
