I'm using an S3 with Brighthouse Cable(Wetumpka(Elmore)Alabama 36093), OTA antenna, and run a Motorola 6412 phase 3 in parallel.

The S3 doesn't tune channels 201, 211 and 216 (local affiliates of ABC, CBS, NBC)directly if you are coming from one of those 3 channels or from one of the channels that shares frequencies other than the one it shares a frequency with. For example, you can go from 206 to 201(these share the same frequency), but you can't go from 211 or 212 to 201. You can up/down channel and they will come in and you can tune to a different valid channel (but not one of those 3)and then be able to tune directly to one of them. I've also found that you can tune to a non valid channel(i.e.203), then enter one of those 3 channels and it won't come in.

I've found that each of these channels share a frequency with another channel which tunes in just fine without having to go to another valid channel.
This may not be relevant, but here it is in case its important.

Channels 201 and 206 share frequency 621mhz
Channels 211, 212, and 213 share frequency 603 mhz
Channels 216 and 217 share frequency 579 mhz.

In testing, I would keep one tuner busy recording so that the results could be credited to what a single tuner would be doing rather than having the Tivo flipping between tuners.

I spoke to one of the CSRs and got the unplug, remove/replace cable card(which I've already done), get new cable cards routine(haven't done yet), but think that if it was a cable card issue, then I wouldn't be able to tune to these 3 channels from other valid channels. Its as though the Tivo uses the current channel as a marker to find the next channel you enter and these three channels have something missing for the Tivo to do this.

By the way, the Motorola 6412 p 3 doesn't have this problem.

I'm still within the return period with Tivo(10 days), but I'd rather find a solution and keep it.

Does this sound like a hardware, firmware or cable card issue?

I don't know if some engineer partially fixed the problem last night or if the cable company is doing something different. However, thanks to whoever is responsible.

I can now go from 211 to 216 and 216 to 211 and keep picture and sound.

I can't go from 211 or 216 to 201 and receive the signal.

If I tune 201 (by either up/down channel or direct input from a channel above or below the range I'm having issues with ) I can't go to either 211 or 216.

Another twist to this is when I receive 201, I can tune to 211(no signal), then tune to 216 and receive signal. Same for going from 201 to 216 then to 211.
