Last week I had dual cable cards inserted in my S3 by insight communications in Lexington KY. I was told that I was the first S3 install by them. The install was a little rocky. The installer had never done it before. Some of the hitches we ran into:
1) he couldn't hit the cards until the "job" was completed, we worked around this by making believe everything was installed and closing out the job and then having him send the hits after each card was in.
2) I wasn't getting the premium channels or my subscribed packages. The guy had failed to call in the cablecard info from the tivo to the office, once he got on the phone and got in touch with someone who knew something they passed the info along and everything worked.
It took about 40 minutes for the whole visit. Everything was working perfectly, and then the next day Insight changed their entire channel line up and the cards stopped working again. (only got basic cable) I reset the tivo and left town for the weekend. When I got back everything is working perfectly again.
All it all it has been a pretty painless ordeal, I love having Tivo in high def. I'm really glad to be rid of the 2 cable boxes that I used to have hooked up to my TV (one for the series 2 and one for high def) I'm pretty sure my wife is happier with the cleaner look of everything as well.
Just wanted to pass the word along about another successful install in a different market.
