I've got a SeriesII TIVO with a lifetime subscription and am trying to decide whether to go ahead and get the Series III. I've been following the threads on this forum, and am really tempted, but am wondering how to solve a specific problem that would arise after the switch:
My plan is to replace the downstairs series II with the Series III and to move the series II upstairs. Then I'd like to watch shows on the upstairs TIVO that I've recorded downstairs. (This wouldn't involve HD channels, just regular channels.)
Can I use the TIVO downstairs to record programs on upper tier channels and somehow watch them through the upstairs TIVO? I'm pretty sure folks in the community do this, but I don't understand what it takes to make it work.
I'm particularly curious about what sort of cable setup I need upstairs to do this. Would this work even if there's no cable box upstairs, and the show I want to watch upstairs was recorded downstairs on an upper tier channel? (Again, not considering HD shows.)
Can anyone tell me what steps I'd need to take to do this, or point me to the place to find out what it takes? My technical sophistication level is obviously VERY low, so the simpler the directions, the better.
Thanks so much,
Marytw
