Media Access Key Keeps Changing...

So the other day on one Tivo in the house it said the MAK key wasn't the same on Tivo Desktop and the DVR, so I went and got key and put it back in on the Tivo Desktop, all was well again. Today my other Tivo is saying the same thing. Again I'll just get the key again and it'll work perfect...but this is the forth time it has happened to me in the past few months. Does the key change over time or something? Is this normal?

No this is not normal! I've had the same MAK since the first day TTG was released. It has not changed once.

Are you sure the MAK is changing and not just getting corrupted on your PC? Have you ever written it down just to be sure? If it is infact changing then I would call TiVo and alert them to the problem.

One prolem is that you can't see the key on the PC. I suspect that you might have registry corruption. Have you noticed any other oddities?

If you are familiar with the Windows registry, you can uninstall desktop, then clean all tivo references out of the registry, then reinstall. You can also try running a registry checker, such as the free ccleaner
