I enjoyed the Halloween versions of the dances. But I don't understand ballroom grading scales at all. I thought Emmitt's Latin dance was boring and lame, and they gave it a 29. Hmph.
I'm glad the judges called Louie on his "degree of difficulty" shenanigans. If you do a harder task and fail, you still failed. If a weightlifter fails at lifting a weight, they don't look at his performance and say "Well, his posture was good so we'll give him partial credit"... they say "buzzzzzzz". I'm amazed that Monique has been able to keep up with him at all. I just wish the judges had called him out earlier... she'd have had 10s out the wazoo.
Ok, does anyone think we've had score-fixing the last few weeks? Last week Bruno was the bad guy, and this week it was Carrie Ann. A dance that they all say is perfect gets a 10-10-9. Surely ONE of Mario's performances has been 30-worthy. I think they're afraid or unwilling to give a perfect 30 until the semi-finals. How stupid is that? :(
So this thread is up before the Results Show... who's out? I say Monique.

Either Monique or Joey is going home tonight, in my opinion.

Yep, I agree that it will be Monique. It should be Emmitt, even though he's really proven himself to be a good dancer, I'm just not buying him in the same league as the other 3...yet the judges consistently rank him right up there with them...and he's got the fan base that will keep him (possibly even over Joey which wouldn't be right at all).
I was in shock that CareyAnn didn't give him 10s all the way across again. I just knew that no matter how badly he did, her crush would win over her judging duties. She proved me wrong this week. Maybe someone else called her out on it. Don't get me wrong, Emmitt's really gotten good, but he's never convinced me that he's leading the dances. He's always looking at Cheryl to see what he should be doing and she's looking at him to be sure he's doing what he should be. She should have toned her dancing down to match his a little more so that he didn't look so unsure of himself.
I still can't get over the fact that Mario hasn't received a perfect score all season! I loved Drew and he got perfect scores, but I would place Mario above Drew in a dance-off. I think it's unfair that they've judged him so much more harshly because they think he's so good...if he is, then give him the scores to reflect that!
ITA about Louis and Mo. She's not the one choreographing these dances, she's just doing what she's told, but it seems that they were saying that she shouldn't be doing such difficult moves. They should have directed that right at Louis rather than her.
P.S. I really loved Mario's waltz! I've always thought that the waltz was kinda boring to watch, but that was one of the most beautiful dances I've ever seen! I was in awe!!!

I just don't enjoy watching Monique dance....especially the slow dances. I don't know what it is but it just doesn't look right.
I too am glad that they called Louie and Mo out on their difficulty level.

What was with her "dead" face during the ballroom dance?! I'm sure it had to do with Halloween and Louis biting her at the end of the dance, but I must have missed something. It just translated into "ick" for me.

It just translated into "ick" for me.Carrie Ann calls Monique on her "dead face" during the results show, and Carrie Ann is on the money with that call. Monique (buh-bye!) had one expression through most of her dances, and that detracted from her success. (Not to mention, so did Louie's "advanced" and difficult choreography!)
I expect we'll see a perfect 30 for Mario in the semi-finals as well. The judges are obviously going out of their way to not show favoritism to Mario ...
I'm going to predict right now that the final will be Mario versus Joey. Dimples versus Lick-Lips.
By the way, Kah-rrrrrrheena looked fantastic with the short red wig!
Also anyone know how much prize money is in professional dancing? Cheryl's got SOME nice house and personal ballroom!!! Even Emmit was impressed!

That routine in the results show choreographed by Hinton Battle was really great!
Minor piece of trivia for all the Buffy fans: Hinton Battle was the demon in 'Once More With Feeling.' :)

I thought they mentioned that was her parents house...

I am willing to bet its Mario and Emmit. Not because of skill but because of what I will call the Jerry Rice factor. Last year Staci was clearly better than Jerry but the fan base for Jerry just took her out. I see the same thing with Emmit.
If you look at the rankings over the weeks Emmit has placed above Joey quite a few times. Emmit also has the enjoyment factor. His smile sells votes more than any other dancer.
One thing I would say is the skill of the dancers and the production quality has increased a lot since the first year with Kelly and John. I really enjoy a lot of the results shows with the professional numbers and singing. Not everything but a lot.

I really do enjoy seeing the "behind the scenes" stuff: the celebs going to charity events, etc, and having the dance partner with them. And seeing the friends and family stop by the studio. That's cool stuff (whether it's a bit staged or not).

I am hoping for Joey and Emmit in the finals - with Emmit winning.
Mario is good - but, I've had enough of him. Just, not sure about his attitude lately, I guess. Joey and Emmit seem more genuine.

I think it should be Mario and Joey in the finals, but agree that Emmitt will beat Joey out on fan base. I hope that a future season will be a "battle of the best" with the top 2 or 3 from each season competing. That would definitely be worth tuning in for.
I love, love, love the behind the scenes stuff.
Hey, and what happened to Devo?! They've sure changed over the years!
(jk, I know it was really Il Divo, but my hubby and I were both very excited the night before when we swear we both heard several times that it was going to be Devo. Oh well, these guys were excellent in their own right.)

I am hoping for Mario and Emmitt in the finals. I've just had it with Joey. Oh, how I wish I could send that lip-licking fool home.
Love Mario, but I have to root for Emmitt.
Go Gators!

Can you be a little more specific on that. He does hold a tense face when listening to the judges and they edit the behind the scenes incredibly. First there is romance between him and his partner then there is tension and then there isnt.
I havent seen him act like he's got it wrapped up but maybe I am missing something.

I haven't thought this either. I think he's like a little boy who's very excited and excitable, but is also very humble toward the judges and Karena...he knows that there's more to learn and that he's not the ideal pupil because of his ADHD and he's always been very humble about that. I think his excitement is often misread.
P.S. I think Karena is the perfect woman for him...she keeps him in line and they really complement each other. They haven't really admitted to a relationship, but they sure looked cozy on the behind-the-scenes footage early on. I hope that they really are together.

Yes, he did. By the end of the show, he had managed it anyway!

Oh, good! I thought for sure I had imagined it when Tom B. made the comment that Joey couldn't lick his lips. I thought I'd just seem him do just that!

I don't get the impression Mario is full of himself, in fact I think he's always quite humble. He is by far the best dancer there though and I think he's taking it the most serious.
