Hello all,
I have some bad movie files, and am concerned that the header information might have become corrupt. Is there a good tool for viewing and editing theses headers? Im searching a bit, but haven't come across any slap-me-in-the-face-thats-what-I-want-to-do solutions.

If you mead the meta-data embedded into the .tivo file, no, that is encrypted and nobody has yet figured it out.

Not necessarily .tivo files. Just regular .avi and .wmv files. I seem to remember seeing some threads about people editing movie headers for some kind of tivo benefit.
Any ideas in that case?

Galleon has the ability to add some minor metadata to standard MPEG files. It's basically a special way to format the file name. If you do a search you should be able to find the thread that explains how it works.

Tivo Headers Revisited!
There has got to be a way to edit the headers. It sucks when you record footage with your home camera, convert it to video and upload clips to your Tivo only to have to scroll through file after file to find what you are looking for. The limited title description is not enough.

 Use pyTivo as your server and generate a metadata file to accompany each video and you can insert whatever title and show description you want with each clip.

Is there a FAQ somewhere on how to create, or edit, a metadata file on pyTivo for people like me who think they know more than they probably do?

See http://pytivo.armooo.net/wiki/MetaData
There's a link to some metadata generating tools also (they query online databases.) I personally use MetaGenerator and then some manual editing of the resulting text file for accuracy (because I'm anal.)
