I gotta give the writers credit -- why come up with some clever convoluted solution to getting rid of the DEA agent when you can just have someone kill him.
I wonder what safe combination Conrad and she chose that Silas could easily get. For that matter, did he even know where the grow house was, or that there was a hidden safe?
Good speech by Shane, though.
In good news, Showtime did run a bumper afterwards announcing Season 3 in 2007, so I guess there's no need to be worried we won't see more.

. For that matter, did he even know where the grow house was, or that there was a hidden safe?He easily could have followed her to the grow house one night.
Not sure about the safe or combo, though...
Wasn't the combination his birthdate or something like that?

The combination is prolly some date (fathers bday or death) known to the family. Remember at first she wanted to use "Nancy", then Conrad stopped her and she came up with something else.
Anyway, I was a little disappointed with all the loose ends in the episode. It was a good show, but not a good season finale.

It wasn't even so much loose ends to me, but the scattershot way the story lines just "happened".
While this show has always pushed the limit on believability, previous seasons didn't make you outright swallow it like a Prison Break or 24. However, I found much of this season to be too bizarre. Marrying a DEA agent, dogs biting off toes, seminary college, two arch enemies having maniac sex, yada yada. And then this finale was just over the top for me.
When we saw Shane driving off in the van with Kat, my wife & I looked at each other and said at the same time, "Jump the shark?". (can you spell "kidnapping"?) And the scene with all the guns pointing at each other didn't help. Silas was just icing on the cake.
Like childbirth (or so I'm told), as time passes I'm sure the painful memories of this episode will fade, and I'll be back for the next season. But if it hadn't been renewed, I wouldn't care.
PS: I hadn't heard anything about another season either, until I saw the promo at the end about "2007".

I loved Shane's graduation speech. So epic, full of powerful metaphors about how life was like a soaring plane, then...
"There are MF snakes on this MF plane!!"
Elizabeth Perkins was awesome all drunked up and acting crazy.
So basically, at the end of the season, every member of the Botwin family is in serious jeopardy. Except for Andy, I guess. How ironic! That makes for a VERY long wait for next season.

Interestingly, on some show earlier this week. I can't recall which, Elizabeth Perkins said they didn't know if they were renewed so the decision must have been very recent.

The combination is prolly some date (fathers bday or death) known to the family. Remember at first she wanted to use "Nancy", then Conrad stopped her and she came up with something else.I'm betting it was the father's birthdate. Didn't they put in the safe the same episode the family celebrated Dad's birthday?
I thought it was a great finale. I just watched the entire season in the last few days, and the finale just worked for me.
What I was most surprised at was Heylia's solution to Peter. I thought she was setting up Conrad to be killed or robbed by the Armenians, which I was shocked at because I knew she was pissed at him but thought she still cared for him. I was relieved to find out that she instead promised to pay them off to kill Peter with an IOU on Conrad's harvest. She wanted to protect Conrad and teach him (and Nancy) a lesson at the same time. (And it would have worked too, if Nancy had just let Silas have his way and join the family business!)

Umm, no it wouldn't have... I doubt they'd take pot as payment since they probably have plenty, and U-Turn wasn't paying.

I doubt they'd take pot as payment since they probably have plenty, and U-Turn wasn't paying. The Armenians wouldn't have taken pot as payment if everything worked out the way Heylia thought it would, they would have been paid in cash. Heylia anticipated U-Turn would pay for the pot, and then the Armenians would have just collected U-Turn's money from Conrad and Nancy. Heylia's mistake was trusting a thief (U-Turn) to be true to his word.

Ya I must agree i was pretty impressed that Haylia tried to come to the rescue. I had wondered what was up with her going to the jail, but after thinking about it I realized she was going to find a way to get them all out of it.
I'm still kinda shocked Wonderbread is dead (and how jealous he was of Conrad). He does have a son Shane's age. Now that the marriage cert was mailed in, Nancy may be his sole benefactor - weird.
I think that last weeks ep (Tomatoes) should have been the finale, and this "Pittsburgh" ep would have been a good premiere. If you still have the recordings, watch "Tomatoes" again and you'll see what I mean. Enough drama to keep you intrigued for the next season, but not so much that you're left feeling cheated and confused.
And yes, Elizabeth Perkins, was on The View, where she urged ppl to post their happiness with the show on the messageboards in hopes of getting renewed as she said Showtime had not decided yet. Guess it worked...
Edit: just remembered The View spot aired about 1.5 wk ago.

But I don't think the marriage certificate was really mailed in. Nancy just said that to stop him from arresting her.

Talk about multiple cliffhangers for the season finale! Wow! But I was cussing Showtime for making us wait until sometime next year to find out what happens to everyone.
What I was most surprised at was Heylia's solution to Peter.
I'm definitely not sure Peter IS dead. Just can't believe it happened. Plus, the scene where the Armenian's took him in the garage and the dog followed, just seemed weird to me. Plus the dog barking when the door closed seemed to denote something. What, I don't know, but I'm hoping Peter somehow escaped. Like others, I think Nancy really loved him and I'd hate to see him gone.
Besides blatent product placement, why the hell didn't she drop that stupid Diet Coke can throughout the whole scene in the kitchen??? Really stupid if you ask me.

She had the license hidden in the back of a picture frame and right after Peter pistol-whipped Conrad, Nancy took the entire picture with her to mail box, ripped off the paper on the back, and pulled out the envelope and put it in the mailbox. She was actually approached by someone, I can't remember who, while she was at the mailbox (maybe Celia?), but it was definitely mailed ...

CherylLOL! I knew she had a can of soda in her hand the entire time, but not once did I even notice the brand! Subliminal marketing will NOT work on me, so take THAT commercial-free Showtime! :D

Yep, it was Abumchuck(sp?), the big white dude chasing Andy's crazy ex, that saw her from across the street.
And yes, I meant heir/beneficiary in regards to Wonderbreads death. I may be just pulling it out of the air, but I think it would be an interesting angle. A lot of questions about their relationship, and how he died so soon after the marriage

They'd ask her where she was when he was killed and she isn't going to be able to answer.

Really stupid if you ask me.Having her hold the can the whole time was probably to emphasize her as being a fish out of water. While everybody else is a hardened drug criminal holding a gun, the other person in the room is a suburban lady holding a diet soda, obviously in over her head. "which one of these things doesn't really belong?"
She did the same thing when Agent Wonderbread attacked Conrad on the front lawn of the grow house in the previous episode... the whole scene she was holding on to a frozen cappacino cup.

I was almost expecting her to go to Wonderbread's superior, cut a deal for immuntiy & get him busted - that would've been priceless. But then, she'd have Conrad & all the others after her as well for tanking the business, assuming she didn't have to give them up as part of a deal.
All in all, a good way to leave things hanging I s'pose. I like that the Crazy Girlfriend will be back, at least for a few episodes, she's a riot.
I don't think the storylines are "scattershot " at all, it's all working fine so far. (What happened to the deaf girlfriend though?)

On the show, her parents shipped her off, presumably to Princeton. The actress moved to "Jericho".
