Previously I used TiVo Desktop 2.2 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server. With this configuration I was able to transfer files to my machine as a non-Administrator user. However, I just upgraded the OS and TiVo Desktop (Windows XP w/ TD 2.3a). Now I am unable to transfer files (or evern start TiVo Desktop), it complains about "TiVo Transfer Service not running".

Does anyone have a configuration like this? Things work OK as administrator, but I would like to have accounts that are restricted. Is there a way to start the transfer service manually? It is not listed in theservice control panel.

thanks,
Mike

There's no way to run TiVo Desktop 2.3 without being logged in as an administrator-level user.

I mucked about with this for several days before giving up and installing Galleon, which installs as a true Win32 service and then runs entirely in the background.
