Kind of a slow episode.

I may start crying if I see Bubbles get beat up again.

When Kima went into that house I was yelling at the tv "No! No! Don't go in there all alone! Are you nuts?" But she got the last laugh. Kima's a snazzy dresser, too.

Herc's a lousy cop, brow beating Randy like that.

Why did Randy not tell him about the row houses?

The best scenes this week were with Carcetti and the Mayor, Carcetti and his team and Omar in jail. Nice to see that Omar is going to be moved somewhere no one knows him.

Carcetti is giving Daniels a hard look as potential police chief it seems. That would be interesting to see. Daniels might re-form the old crew and start up the wire taps again. And he'd probably do something stupid like put lester in charge and make mcnulty do something important.

I liked the scene where bubbles told prez he'd keep his "undercover" work secret.

Not a bad episode.

Good to see that Bunk believed Omar enough to get that prosecutor to move him to another facility.

Enjoyed all the Carcetti scenes. I like how he's making observations and realizing what needs to be done should he become Mayor.

I feel sorry for Bubbles.

And one last thought, "Bravo" to Det. Greggs!

+1 on the work that Kima completed. I was screaming when she went into the house as well.

Burrell has to know something is up.

I love it when they solve murders on the wire. That scene rivals the F word scene with bunk and mcnulty a couple seasons back.

I've been wondering all season how they're going to put the wire back into The Wire. Looks like this might be it...

Kind of a slow episode.

Slow?

- Omar's jailhouse scenes had me so nervous! I loved the prep work for his morning breakfast ("You think they gots honey-nut in here?" :p ) and then the attack and turn-around were great!

- I was glad to see the DA didn't get punished for the pre-election warrants, and having her on Violent Crimes Unit will get her back into the loop with the other characters.

- I'm amazed that Herc blew his chance to be the hero and discover the bodies (he just had to ask Randy if he'd seen any). But he has proved time and again he isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

- Kemah rocks! Contrast her and Herc and it's like night-and-day :p

- I really thought Omar was going to call McNulty from jail. Too bad, I miss having McNulty in the show.

- I'm afraid Bubbles isn't long for this world. :( (not a spoiler, just a gut feeling that I hope is wrong)

- Namond... he tried his best to get suspended, didn't he :p "Mr. Colvin sir... F$&@ YOU" (but I also fear he may not last much longer)

- I'm soooo waiting for Omar to get out and come after Marlo :D

Why doesn't Namond just stop going to school if he only has to be there one day out of each month?

True. But I think the more apt/important contrast is Herc and Carver.

Omar likes the honey nut. Earlier in the season that is why he went to the store in his PJ's was because his BF ate the last of the honey nut.

Didn't he ask his mom about that and she said he had to stay in school?

True, but in this episode they really brought it home that Kemah can "think outside the box" whereas Herc jumps to conclusions and can't see the "big picture".

Oh, and I liked how they focused on the bad cop's wearing of the ring... before they even showed his face we knew who was driving. And after he stole DVDs from Bubbles I'm hoping even more that he gets turned out.

Officer Walker. took Randy's $$, the ring from Omar and now stealing from Bubbles. He needs some payback.

Herc and the camera they even mention fuzzy dunlop :D

I like that thief cop. He's very entertaining. I hope he never gets caught.

Herc was supposed to take Randy to see Bunk before he took him home...what happened?

The suspense is killing me! Who is going to discover the bodies? Kima, Lester, Carver, Herc, or somebody else? Is it even going to happen this season? At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Prez figured it out.

Funny you mention Prez, I've been thinking for a while that he is going to discover them as a result of one of his kids confessing it to him.

the F word scene with bunk and mcnulty a couple seasons back.Best. Scene. EVER.

I burst out laughing every time just remembering that scene. Really. Stop bringing it up. It's embarrassing.

Season 1, Episode 4: "Old Cases"

from the HBO recap

Bunk and McNulty visit the vacant apartment of Diedre Kresson, the young woman killed in the old murder case they've been asked to work, to see if there's a connection to Barksdale. The partners conduct the entire investigation, needing barely a word between them to communicate. They find two bullet casings overlooked in the initial investigation, and are pleased when they learn later that they match the casing in two other murders that may be connected to the Barksdales.

The recap even makes me laugh. "needing barely a word between them to communicate".

The scene lasts 2-3 minutes. Bunk and McNulty just continuously repeat, in every potential conjugation and inflection, the 'F word.' It's such a classic scene.

Wait, did I miss something? What happened after Kima went into that house? (I have to watch this show for one of my classes, and we have a quiz tonight.)

She made an arrest but it wasn't shown.

I want to take that class, easiest homework assignments ever.

As Cherry Ghost said, Kima made an arrest. The guy in the house was responsible for the murder of the State's witness she was investigating. The guy apparently was shooting at bottles, and using a potato as a silencer for his gun. It was a stray bullet who killed the witness. She was able to retrieve the murder weapon and have the guy confess.

I wonder if the ring is going to figure into the plotline or it is only a humorous thread?

One thing that was strange to me is why Omar said he did not know who Marlo was when his bodyguards said Marlo was the one who offered the contract on his life.

I guess he is just unwilling to let anyone know his business.

It seemed odd to me also that Omar wouldn't know who Marlo was, at least by reputation. He might not know what he looks like but he should know who the major players of West Baltimore are. After all, Marlo was the big winner after the Barksdale empire fell.

Then again, I can't figure out why Omar is living in an abandoned house when he recently knocked off a very high stakes poker game
