Does anyone actually use this - Desktop for Intel Viiv? I had been told that you could also have Intel Mobile Centrino (in the case of laptops) instead of the Intel Viiv Technology and it would still work, but when I installed it and went into MC (as I have a Win XP MCE 2005 laptop), I went to the more programs and tried to start it and it stated that I either didn't have the correct technology to run it or I had not configured it to run correctly. I then went back to the tivo download spot to notice that it says "duo" with the centrino, which I am guessing means that my single processor (a Pentium M @ 1.73GHz) just doesn't cut it? That would be so upsetting as I really wanted to use the software through media center and would be willing to consider any configurations that I might need to do to get this software to work correctly (if it actually will on my system).

So, I also have a media center based MP3 player (Toshiba Gigabeat S 60GB) and am constantly converting my tv programs recorded through MC with my tv tuner for this device in Media Player 11 (which is a decent program), but was wondering just how good the Tivo Desktop Plus program is, does it seem to have any bugs or issues at all? I think that having the tivo programs automatically convert when I download/transfer them would be great (as long as I could have the episodes/movies be able to play in any media player I want and still function nicely).

So any info on either of these 2 Desktop Programs would be great as I have little knowledge of Intel Viiv Technology, or the working of the Plus program as it is a commercial one with no demo/trial that I have noticed...

Thanks.

I think the key is the dual core processor.

I have an Asus P5LD2 MB with a 530J Pentium 4 and a Geforce 7300. I know that the 945P chipset is a part of the VIIV specs and there is one in my MB. I also know that my processor is not in the spesc for VIIV. I am wondering if anyone knows whether or not upgrading to a Pentium D would make my system pass the VIIV test, or would I also need a different MB.

Does anyone know if there is a reg hack to make Tivo for VIIV think I have the right hardware?

In response to the post above to my knowlege Tivotogo plus does not handle conversion for microsoft based players such as your toshiba. Media Player already does this so they did not feel the need to rewrite the code in tivotogo.

Thanks
