Now that I have finally upgraded to directv HD I am awaiting my HD DVR. Having been a long time Directv tivo enthuiast I am wondering what the differences are between the two? Does the direct dvr have folders, search by title, wishlists, season passes, view upcoming porgrams, etc. thanks
I only wish we could get the standalone tivo features... linking one to another, program via website, etc.

As the previous poster noted, there is another forum dedicated to the HR20. But in a nutshell ..
no live dual buffers,
no wishlists (search function works similar, but not as well)
no "season passes," since that is a TiVo patent, but it does have the capability to record all episodes. You DON'T have the capability to specify "First run only," only one channel, or similar.
You do have something similar to folders.
There are some things I like about the HR20 over my DirecTiVo, that I would like to see TiVo incorporate into their UI, like being able to see your ToDo List and "Now Showing" while still watching a recorded or Live program. Being able to bring up the guide, run a search, and with one key press tell it to record that show, all while watching a show.
However, the HR20 has some SERIOUS bugs and instability, so I wouldn't touch it right now with a ten foot pole! You also lose TiVo functionality and reliability.

Also no OTA reception/recording, though that is promised soon.

Huh? Series Link works just like Season Pass. You can specify first run, repeat or both, and it does restrict it to that channel.

Yeah, groups. It doesn't look like a tiny little folder, but your shows are placed in groups and when you press select on the title, it's expanded to show the episodes. A bit more than just similar.

I can tell from the other place that you're experiencing troubles. Others are as well. It is far from universal. Hope things work out for you NFLNut
