My Step Father bought a SONY 37" LCD HDTV and upgraded to an HR10-250 back in August. DirecTV sent an installer out an hooked up the HR10 and TV.

Last weekend I was over to watch a football game, and had my first chance to watch the new TV for more than 5 mins.

After watching for a while my step father asked how he could hook up better speakers to the TV.

So, I got a flashlight and looked behind the TV to see which audio connections were present. I quickly forgot all about the audio.

I discovered the following:
The TV had an HDMI connector but had nothing connected to it.
The TV had component inputs available, but nothing was connected to it.
The TV had S-Video inputs, but nothing was connected.

The TV was hooked up with a composite cable!!!!!

So, we pull out the HR-10 box that the installer left behind, and inside are both HDMI and Component cables!

I wonder how many more people that don't know anything about hooking up a TV have shiny new HDTV's hooked up with a NON-HD cable?

Where do they get these CLUELESS installers?

Sad, but all too true. Installers are trained to install HDMI cables when they're available on the customer's TV.
