View Full Version : TiVo Series 2- Tech Question

Yesterday I suddenly lost picture and sound on my TV (I still had power to the TV but the screen was dark and I lost all audio). My configuration consists of a digital cable box (Time Warner), a DVD/VCR combo unit, a TV (of course) and a TiVo Series 2 DVR (40 Hour). By process of elimination, I was able to determine that my TV worked fine when I took the DVR out of the equation. However, with the DVR hooked up, I am still able to access and view all of my "Now Playing" data (I can watch previously recorded programs and I can view and play my music files and all of my photos). The only thing I can't do is watch "Live" TV. When I try and do this with the DVR attached, I get that dark screen and no audio. My question is, can a DVR suffer a partial malfunction such as this or do you think my problem lies elsewhere (like with the DVD player perhaps)?
If more information is needed to help diagnose my problem, please let me know. Or, if this thread should be in a different forum, please direct me to the proper one.
Thanks for any suggestions...
Joe

Make sure that the output of your digital cable box is set to 480i.

Thank you for the suggestion. Actually, I just reset the DVR and that did the trick. I think the fact that a transition from Adelphia Cable to Time Warner cable may have played a role in what happened. Anyway, all is well in TiVo land once again.
