Looks like I got the 6.3 upgrade last night, but now the HR10-250 gets to the screen displaying "Preparing Service Upgrade... this may take up to an hour" within seconds it reboots back to 'Powering Up' this cycle has now been continuing for hours.
I have called D* tech support and all they could offer was a replacement - as I don't want to lose the 70+ hours of HD programming already recorded or get a HR20 - does anybody have any suggestions.
thanks in advance

Try a reboot yourself. Unplug it and wait a few minutes, then plug it back in. If it gets into the reboot cycle again, then sorry. Another alternative is to reimage the drive, but you'll still lose the programming.

What did they offer to replace it with? Another HR10-250?

We didn't get to that part of the conversation - I was so mad I had to tell them I would think about it and call back.

I had this happen on my original HR10-250. There's nothing you can do except re-image the drive, or get a new replacement altogether. The 6.3 update has donwloaded onto a portion of the drive with a bad sector, so it's likely got holes punched in it which are causing the reboot. When you're watching regular programming, it doesn't matter much when you hit a bad sector - all you get is a break in the stream and usually pixelating and a stutter. But with actual software, you're toast.
Get the replacement. I know it sucks, I feel your pain.

I called DirecTv last evening for a replacement. 6.3a has completely hosed my HR210-250.
I was told by the technician that all they could not send me a replacement. No more HR210-250's in stock. The technician offered to send a HR20.
I have opted to re-image my drive.
