Help! Dead drive

Ok, here's the deal. My livingroom tivo hard drive was failing, so I pulled it, did a backup and tried to put it on a new hard drive. Apparently it was too far gone, as the new one refuses to boot - it just Powers up, gives me the few minutes screen, then finally, reboots.

I want to use my bedroom tivo to do a backup, then put that image on the new drive, however it is a dual drive tivo, whereas the dead one is a single drive tivo. Is it possible to do this?

Are the two Tivo's the same brand/model? Your bedroom Tivo might not an image that's compatible with the dead living room Tivo.
