my series 2 is starting to pickelize

i have the stand alone tivo i am a direct tv technician the problem is from the tivo not the dtv box i have tried all inputes and outputs randomly it freezes tivo service number starts with 140
software is 7.3.1-oth-01-2-140
dvr is is unmodified
noticed it moving slower after two updates ago but i think the hard drive is the problem
what can i do
i have spare 160 gig hd's am i going to have to replace it or is there a software issue
any help would be greatly appreciated :confused:

Probably the hard drive but you cannot just stick in a new one - it needs to be programmed using the tools and techniques mentioned in the stickies at the top of the upgrade forum.

Maybe the OP should avoid placing vinegar near the TiVo.
