Help! I looked in the faqs, and did some searches, and couldn't find the answer to my question.

About 2 months ago, I purchased a 180 hour standalone S2 DT box, and I'm quite happy with it.

Now, my local cable company, Mediacom (whom I loathe), is unable to reach a deal with the local FOX affiliate. As of now, I will no longer be able to watch FOX starting on (coincidentally, my birthday) 12/1.

So I'm thinking of switching to DirecTV. The FOX affiliate is offering $150 worth of rebates to anyone switching to DirecTV in the next month or so.

Now, I've read a bit about DirecTV DVRs, and DirecTiVo, but what I haven't read is whether or not my current TiVo box will work with DirecTV. If so, will I lose my Dual Recording capabilities? Is there any way around this? Do I have to purchase another TiVo to get the most out of DirecTV?

The S2 DT will work with DirecTV, but you will lose the second tuner. An alternate option is to go to DirecTV and keep basic cable. One tuner will tune the dish, the other the basic cable.

Single tuner S2's allow you to use an off-air antenna, but alas the DT does not.

To get the most out of DirecTV, you need to obtain a DirecTV TiVo DVR.

To get the most out of DirecTV, you need to obtain a DirecTV TiVo DVR.

A DIRECTV TiVo DVR is gonna be kinda hard to find nowadays.

The DirecTV DVR without TiVo will do the trick to. For me the TiVo GUI isn't that big of a deal. The DirecTV GUI is different but not "AWFUL" as some people say it is.

You'll get "the most out of DIRECTV" having a DIRECTV DVR since it has all the interactive features and records HDTV including the DIRECTV HDTV local channels using MPEG-4 technology. The DIRECTV/HDTV/TiVo DVR won't work with MPEG-4 stuff.
