Hello all.

I recently moved up to a HR10-250. I want to connect a second satellite cable to the tuner in order to watch one show and record another at that same time. Presently i have the ability to string a second line from the cable that is connected to my up stairs D* reciever.

Here's my question. Can i simply *split* off that line with an inline splitter and still get the signal to my HR10-250 and not effect the signal to my up stairs reciever?

Sweew.

I'm sure this has been asked before and don't kill me for asking, i'm new to all of this tivo stuff.

:D

Thanks for looking!

Sat signals need to be hard-wired directly to a multiswitch or to the dish. You can't use a typical hybrid splitter on them. The receiver needs to talk back to the switch, and if two are connected on one line the system becomes confused. You need to connect back to the dish or add a multiswitch.

It is OK to split the OTA signal, tho.

Thanks for the response!

So if i add a multiswitch where i *split* to go to each reciever instead of a conventional splitter it should work fine?

Unfortunately it's the only way i can get a second line to my HR10-250. My family room is finished off and this is the only way. So hopefully i can connect to this multiswitch and make it work.

Thanks again

The multiswitch requires all lines from the dish to be connected in order to work. Using only one input won't do what you want. I'll assume that you have the triple LNB dish with four outputs, so if you haven't a need for four lines, just run another line from the dish to your HR10.

Thanks for the help guys.

I finally figured out a way to get a second line into the house.

Up and running!
