I just purchased a Seagate 200MB ultra ata drive, and tried to install it. After finishing, I powered up my TIVO and got the "Welcome-powering up..." screen. It has not got past this part. After frustration set in, I reinstalled my old drive and it's working perfectly (knock on wood). My question, what did I do/not do wrong? I read the instruction book, and tried installing it "as is", and with the jumper in the "master" position (at least I think it was in the master position). I don't know if I have a bad drive or not. Is a bad drive a common problem? I'm not too computer smart when it comes to figuring this stuff out. Someone please help me!!!

Stuck at "Welcome, Powering Up" indicates that it didn't even see that a drive was installed. Your power and/or data cables connecting the new drive to the tivo may not have been firmly seated. Try it again.

I tried installing it three times today with the same results each time. I've pushed those dang things in as hard as I can. Where exactly is the jumper supposed to be? According to the manual, "master" is to the far left (looking directly at it). Is it even supposed to be set on "master"?
Also, what's the common time frame for a TIVO to "power up"?

I replied to your message in the TiVo Community > Underground Playground > TiVo Upgrade Center (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=4517735&&#post4517735)

I hope this question doesn't come across wrong, but does the new drive have TiVo software running on it? Or is it a blank drive you put in, assuming that's all that was needed?

The latter of the two. Stupid me, huh?
