Last night, my #4 HR10 upgraded to 6.3a. this morning saw one of my OTA programs recording. went to my now playing list to start watching it, but no picture. I brought up the channel, but get the banner searching for signal. I checked one of my other HR10's, and it was playing fine. I canceled the recording and checked some other OTA channels. The high # ones came in, then went back to the lower channels and they were playing.
I put the #4 HR10 on OTA signal strenght and was getting 80 on both inputs. I checked my connections and they were tight. Put the other HR10 on OTA signal strenght. it was 91 which is about right as it is on a shorter cable run. I went out to the garage to check the distribution panel connections. After about 15min, #4 rebooted, and about 5 min later my other HR10 rebooted. Well! I tried the same process again, and what do you know, after about 15min, they rebooted again!!!

This reboot issue isn't about bad hard drives, Its about a buggy 6.3.X that was rushed out to the subscribers before it was properly tested.
What ever happened to comprehensive beta testing???
I never had a spontaneous reboot issue with 3.1.
Someone needs to kick D* in the butt over this issue!!
I feel sorry for Joe public that doesn't read this forum, and is pulling out his hair over the 6.3 issues, and is most likely being told mis information by D* service reps that will try to push their DVR on them.
The best thing that D* could do at this point is download 6.3B, or as it is more commonly known as 3.1.5f!
Oh yes, I also have the audio dropouts!

I came home from work last night and tested the ota strength for ch 5 and it spontaneously rebooted. This had not happenbed before on this machine.

Checked my OTA signals from the setup menu about 3-4 times and have not gotten any reboot. On 6.3a

Of my two HR10's, one of them exhibits this behavior every time you try to either access the OTA signal strength meter OR re-scan the OTA frequencies. The other one does not. Yet, obviously, they're both running 6.3, and they're both connected to the same antenna.

In any event, neither one had exhibited the problem before 6.3. And it should be fixed -- pronto!

If you leave the HR10 on ota signal strength for about 15 min, it will reboot.

Mine hasn't rebooted yet, but the signal strength bars just stop working for all OTA stations. I have had to reboot it twice now to be able to have the signal readings. I tried backing out of the menu and going back in and it didn't work.

Well it didn't do it for me. However I will be adjusting my OTA antenna next week and of course it takes more than 15 minutes. I'll report back then.

Hi whsbuss,
Ok, fine. Hope other members will try this and report in.
I have 4 hr10's and plan to pull my original drives out of storage and re image my drives with 3.1.5f. What pisses me off is that I will be loosing my recordings.

Thanks D* for screwing up my DVR's because of your lack of insuring that 6.3 was properly beta tested.

I don't know if the threshold is really 15 minutes, I think it's more like 30, but I can confirm that even with the older software versions, leaving the unit on the signal strength screen for a long time would cause a reboot.

I discovered this about a year ago. I was changing antennas. I needed one with higher gain. I put it on the signal strength screen and took a reading on the worst channel (that needed the most improvement) with the old antenna. I did this to get a baseline on how much improvement I got.

I left the unit on the signal strength screen as I went outside, collapsed my antenna mast, mounted the new antenna, and raised the mast. (I live in a fringe area, I need a high gain antenna about 25 feet in the air.)

This process took about 45 minutes to one hour. At about 30 minutes into the process, my son reported to me that the HR10 was rebooting. I walked inside and sure enough it was on "welcome, powering up".

I simply left it alone until I was ready to tweak the new antenna, then went back to the signal strength screen.
