Is it possible to play different video formats such as AVI, MOV, etc., on an unhacked TiVo box? The only way that I have to transfer is to use the Desktop app.
Please forgive me if this has been discussed before. If it has, please post a link and I'll check it out.

Check out the Videora Tivo Converter software. It can convert almost anything to a TiVo supported format.

I use Videora and it works ok. But with files that can be 700MB or more it can take forever. Plus getting the resolution and aspect ratio just right is something that I have not quite mastered.
Any tips?

To answer your original question....
- No, it has to be in mpg format. Described on Tivo's Site here:

- If you are not using a 4:3 tv with 16:9 source avi's for converting...try this link:
