Ok guys, I'm trying to help a friend of mine out with her TIVO setup here. She's the least bit technical so I'm trying to help her out over the phone with it.
She has a TIVO box setup with a TIVO wireless adapter to a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. They also have a computer connected to the router and they are able to transfer shows, pictures, etc between the TIVO box and computer. They can't, however, get the program guide to download over the Internet.
Has anyone experienced something similar with this setup? Is it possible that some ports need to be opened up to allow the program guide to return to the TIVO? Port Forwarding?
Thanks for the future help.
Is the TiVo set up to get its guide data over the network instead of using the phone line? That's in Messages & Settings/Phone & Network. Does the TiVo recognize the network? What signal strength does it show? What type of errors does the TiVo report when you try to get the guide data? Did it used to work and then stop, or did it never work?

I'll check on how it is setup to get the guide data. The TIVO recognizes the network b/c they are able to watch TV and transfer files back and forth. She says the signal strength shows a "good" signal. I'll find out the rest, but since they are updating the guide through the phone line you may have hit the nail on the head. Thanks and I'll get back to you.

Here's his response...
hey Adam, we are using a wireless adapter from Tivo. when we used the settings on Tivo to connect with network it said it was completed and that Tivo would start using the network connection. When I tried to do a test connection it says "failed while negotiating" then the message says" failed to connect to Tivo service (N7)". But we get stuff off the computer on tivo and vice versa.

How is the Internet accessed? Is the Wireless router connected to your cable or DSL modem?

It is connected through Hughesnet satellite internet, they bought out Direcway. They have a laptop and desktop computer both working on the Internet.
The wireless router is connected through the Hughesnet stuff to access the Internet.

Are you guessing or saying that is fact?
Can anyone confirm this one way or another?
