I thought the pic quality of the W-Series game on Tues. night was less than impressive. Is FOX actually transmitting 1080 or 720 quality? There just seemed to be too much graininess ... IMO ... And this was FOX OTA ... complete with 2 Audio drop outs.

I thought the exact same thing. Last night's games nust have had some sort of transmission issue. The other two games and the Mets-Cards series were razor-sharp. I'm watching OTA too

Other than a couple of audio dropouts, the picture quality was perfect in Salt Lake City OTA.

I thought it looked bad. I switched the Tivo to 480i and then back to 1080 just to make sure I had it right.

The picture was noticeably worse. Even switching between 2-1 and 88 yielded the same results.

This was the first HD broadcast from Busch Stadium so I'm not sure it has anything to do with it or not.

Let's hope they improve for tonight's game assuming it's not rained out.

I'm fairly certain that Fox broadcasts their sporting events in 720P and CBS does theirs in 1080i. Not sure where I read that, but again, I'm pretty sure that was true at least for the NFL games...

Fox and ESPN 720p everyone else is 1080i

But I don't even think last night's game was 720p .... It almost appeared as SD to me... (and seemingly others as well).

The NLCS was broadcast in HD. It was clear. Last night had "fuzz" all over the place.

At Circuit City last night, the Samsung 1080p display a the front of the store said it was receiving a 480P signal. This was from KTTV (Fox LA). Not sure if it was fed from OTA, Cable or Sat. Also not sure if it was set that way from a not so bright sales guy either!

I didn't notice any problems with picture quality here in Tampa...but I ended up dozing through much of the game (a reflection of my exhaustion, not a commentary on the game), so I may not be the best critical observer.

Hopefully tonight's pictures will be better for those with issues (and hope the rain holds off in StL).

Watching over the air I thought the picture quality was pretty iffy. It was definitely still an HD signal, but there was a lot of noise in the picture. Heck, it even hid some of the weird artifacts their slow motion shots have.
