What do you think is the easiest way form me to go back to 3.1 on my bedroom 10-250. Although, I like the 6.3 upgrade it "fixed" the backdoor way of recording the XM channels via wishlist method.

The unit is currently unmodified but I have no problem pulling the drive and putting it in my computer. I just don't know what the easiest and cheapest method of doing such. Can someone point me to a thread or other documentation explaining the process--and where I would find a 3.1 image.

Thanks

Ok I just found this nearly identical thread. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=323477 Sorry..

My one remaining question is where can I get an image of 3.1 since I did not previously make a backup?

Just a comment:

It's really sad (and telling) that so many people were anxiously awaiting the 6.3 update for so long, and yet, now problems are so prevalent that some are considering or performed such an extreme roll back measure.

The turn of events around here....

Not so extreme. You do lose your recordings, but if you image a new 250GB and replace the one in your unit, you won't permanently lose them. Also, since it doesn't affect existing recordings, you can watch the really important ones before you swap the drive out.

When 6.3b arrives, just replace the swapped drive and you will be good to go. Then use the 250 GB drive as an additional drive to give you 500 GB total space.

For me, I can live short term with the dropouts. I think you can count on this issue being resolved. In fact, this same issue MAY be the reason the OTA tuners haven't been enabled yet on the HR20. Just a guess, of course, but it is plausible.

It's doubful that the reason the OTA tuners on the HR20 is due to the dropout issue with 6.3a. The HR20 and HR10 are two completely different platforms running completely different software. There is absolutely no relation between the two. DTV is probably trying to work out some last minute bugs in the OTA recording software for the HR20 before they release the update.
