R10 Messages Problem

On my R10 Messages & Setup screen it shows that I have messages. When I go to the Messages screen there is nothing there and then my tivo freezes up there and the only way I can get back to the main screen or do anything is to reboot the unit.Any idea why this is happening? My software is 6.1-01-2-521 if that helps.

I've heard of the unit filling up with "plug in the phone line" messages
to the point it locks up when trying to read them.

Is your phone line unplugged by chance?

Sorry, don't know the fix other than don't check the messages.

Yeah that could be it I had it unplugged for a very long time and just connected it to a phone line again today.

Try one of the "Clear and Delete" reset options, saving the "Clear and Delete Everything" as a last resort. I'm not sure if one of the less destructive "Reset" options will clear out your messages.

Of course you could always just not go to the messages menu anymore. When's the last time Directv actually sent anything useful in messages? :)
