Audio Levels from Channel to Channel

Has anyone with 6.3a using DD output to a A/V Receiver noticed that their audio levels from channel to channel seem to have a wide range. It seems I'm having to work the volume control a whole lot more with this software than I ever did with the old software.

I'm just using the standard audio output (red,white) and I notice a huge difference between the OTA channels and the SAT channels. I have to keep turn the remote up to the 30's for the OTA's and down to the low teens for the SAT channels.

Commercials are also EXTREMELY loud on the SAT channels.

IMHO, it's always been that way.

Didn't notice much of a change from the old software to 6.3a.

Inconsistent audio levels are the bane of broadcasting, and HD has only aggravated the issue. Certainly nothing new there.

I think there is a new feature is 6.3 that acts as an automatic volume leveler (or did I just dream that?) I'll have to check, but I seem to remember turning that on. Of course I have a Terk volume leveler and a JVC digital AVR with "midnight mode" that both together have already solved this problem for me, so I haven't seen a huge diff.

The bad news is it can't work with DD.

This has been a problem forever, not just with HR10s. My SD TiVos show this as well. However, it does seem that more channels are involved. I especially see it between the network HD channels. This should be fixed by DirecTV. And the networks need to get there act together when it comes to 5.1 audio. The golf tournament last weekend on ABC HD had very lower center channel audio.

Same as it's always been for me, both software revisions. OTA is always quiet and sat. is incredibly loud when I go back to it.
