A friend of mine told me that I should ask this here,
Is anyone else in the Charlotte area experiencing bad reception? I wouldn't say it's snow, it's more like white dashes through out the screen. It's happening on all our tv's so I know it's not a problem with our tv.
I've called Direct tv and they said it was a problem with our local CBS station. I called CBS and they said that it was not their problem, it's a Direct tv problem. I asked my neighbors and it seems that those with Dtv is having the same problem and those with cable are not.
Is anyone else dealing with this? It seems to be happening only with CBS.
Thanks.

Sure looks like it's a problem with that local CBS station's feed to DirecTV, or perhaps DirecTV's uplink to the satellites. Best bet is to contact both DirecTV and the local station (ask for the Station Engineering Manager).

Call WBTV at (704) 374-3500 to report it. Ask for the Chief Engineer.

The Local Receive Facility for Charlotte is located at 4021 Rose Lake Drive in Charlotte.
At a place called Hosted Solutions?
That's where the signals are picked up and sent onto Directv. Give them a call.

Thanks for all your replies. I have spoken with a engineer from WBTV and he told me that this is definitely a Directv problem and they have been in contact with them and are trying to get it worked out.
I called Dtv AGAIN last night and after going explaining it all again I told them that the check I write out each month is to them not to WBTV in Charlotte and I want this fixed. They insured me that they are doing what they can to fix the problem. I did get 3 months of free Showtime. I told them that I really appreciated the gesture but what I really want, is for this to be fixed. I also told her that Time Warner is just a phone call away. (Cable customers are NOT having this problem, that's why this is a satellite problem) I love my Directv, but we will not hesitate switching.
I'm giving it 3 more days and then they're going to get another call.
Jim, I will also give that shot as well. I'm going to try and find the phone number. Tks.

Just as a response to help with your attempts. I have an HR10-250 hooked up to a Samsung HDTV and I don't see this on the local feed of ch. 3 via DTV or the OTA HD signal. In the Gastonia area.

It seems to be only happening in South Charlotte. I have friends in East Charlotte w/ Dtv and their CBS station is fine.
It has nothing to do with the equipment, it's a problem on their end.
It has been fixed for the last day or two. We'll see if it sticks, in the past, it clears up for a day or two and then it's back again. We'll see.

(Cable customers are NOT having this problem, that's why this is a satellite problem) Not necessariy. As someone pointed out above, it may well be a problem with the feed that the local is sending to Directv. That would not affect the cable signal, but still be the local's responsiblity.

You are correct that you are paying Directv and that they are responsible to you, and you, unfortunately, are caught in the middle. But remember that the problem is no doubt temporary and cable companies don't tend to exactly be a Never-Never Land of perfection either.

Bottom line, you are the customer and can do as you choose.
