If your existing customer to directv meaning that your dvr unit was working 100% but, for some reason had to Clear and Delete everything here is a write up how to bring it back with out getting
a installer or waiting on the phone for them to pick up..
I'm going to assume that the dish or dishes is pointed in the correct direction and they are connected to multi switch that is connected to the dvr unit
(powered Terk 5x8 found in circuit city)
if it was done and left alone go on to the next step
when you do a Clear and Delete it can be a long process it ultimately depends how much data is stored in the dvr. estimated time is 1hr. Now when it's done usually it's going to run the steps of installation answer the questions e.x zip code, etc after that is completed you will come to the type of dish and all you have to do is follow the directions and you'll be fine..
Choose round dish (one or dual)
next question is if you have one or two cables from the multi switch
it's going to detect 101 dish only (101 dish is very important to be seen without it you'll be stuck)
it's going to reaquire satellite signal after it reaquires the sat signal it will tell you to hit the live tv button the orignal remote should have live tv button (if not there's codes you could find provided from this forum)
on your tv it will display directv basics it's a show telling you how to use it's functions i recommend to listen in on it it could be useful..
Activation Process
call directv customer support (1-800-347-3288)
press one on the phone for (existing users)
enter your phone number
press one to confirm phone number
type 721
it's going to ask if there's a three digit number seen on tv
just retype 721
and wait 30 sec.
after waiting 30 sec the guide should be filled up with shows
when you finally have the channel guide up and running you will notice the channel guide not responding well ..
Fianlly, go to directv central --> messages & setup ---> restart or reset system -->restart the recorder
(If you have a international dish skip this part and go on to the next part)
International part
after getting 101 dish aquired and your guide filled with tv shows goto
directv central --> messages & setup ---> satellite --> auto-detect satellite information from there it will try to find out your setup.. you will be in a waiting game after the task is completed you will see
101 detected okay
95 detected okay
after you jump up and down go ahead and restart the recorder and wait after that go ahead and crack open some beer
if you have time i recommend checking the channels you have and write it down after that is done i recommend setting up channels you receive setup.
channels you receive will help end some confusion especial if it's for the old asian folks this could be done here..
