View Full Version : TiVoToGo won't start. Receiving error: It's taking longer than expected to startup

I have tried both 2.2 and 2.3a and I continue to receive the "It's taking longer than expected to startup" error. Then I cancel out of it, the PC won't allow me to do anything else (in 2.3a) or just cancels out (in 2.2).

I'm using XP SP2, IE 6 (and I tried IE 7), Media Player 10, CA Anti-virus (which I have disabled but still have the issue), Cisco VPN (but it was not started), etc.

I have a Verizon wireless card as well as Dell 802.11b wireless and ethernet.

The TivoToGo has worked a few times, and I was able to download the shows. But, not I cannot get it to start.

Any ideas on how to resolve this would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you have many recordings in your TiVo folder, your antivirus is taking a while scanning the folder you're trying to open.

Adjust your antivirus settings (disable on-access) or turn it off temporally.

CA Antivirus & Internet Security cause havoc with TIVO Desktop. After I installed it, I couldn't connect to my TIVO until I disabled Internet Security, and based on the advice in this post to disable CA Antivirus, I have fixed my "longer than expected error" which occured with only 4 one-hour shows in my directory.

I am removing CA and going back to Norton despite the fact that CA was cheap (free after rebates).
