I got big problems I am very confused by Directv. I bought the D10 Receiver from E-Bay when I got It I called directv to activate it because it came with a card that was still sealed in it's plastic package. I read them the receiver ID then I read them the card number they came back saying that the card was in collections and could not be used but receiver was de-activated so they could send me another card for it for twenty bucks. I was upset seeing that the card was in it's sealed package but they insisted that it was used so I told them to go ahead and send me another card so I could get this receiver working. They told me when I get the new card call and they would marry receiver and card then I should send them the other card. I told them no problem. The original conversation took place on the 18th and my card was supposed to be here yesterday. So I didn't receive the card and called and was told the card for sure would be here today 21st. Still no card called again and women I spoke to said card will be here for sure on Monday but I couldn't use on the receiver because it is in collections also. I told her this is really getting stupid. that I had discussed this with two other people in her department on two different days and was told the receiver was fine. No results from this conversation except that I couldn't use the receiver. I then told her that I bought off E-Bay and she told me if he has any other units to call in receiver ID's before I activate that way I can get one that works before I hook up. I called E-Bay man because he lives in same area as me and told him what was going on and he gave me 3 receiver Id's. I called Directv gave them each number separetly and low and behold all 3 were active in collections. Amazing isn't it. The funny thing is every unit is still sealed in orginal packaging so I can't figure out what they are doing to me. I know this is long story but what can I do now. Is Dirtectv screwing with me and if so what can I do about it? One last thing in between all this today I was passed to installation people and he said I shouldn't have any problems activating this receiver with new card no matter what it's status is because it is a new card any thoughts on this?

One very last thing old card starts with 0014 and new cards start with 0018 at least that is what I was told.

I'm so confused

It's VERY possible for "sealed" receivers &/or cards to be in collections, or to have balances.
Sometimes dealers have "pre-activated" units, but for whatever reason, they DON'T actually get installed. Since D* has already done their part on THEIR end, they could care less about the equipment end - as long as THEIR system shows what it does, it doesn't matter if the receiver is sealed, unused, etc.

Back in the old days BEFORE receivers had RID's, the receivers being in "collections" was not a problem; now it is. If even after getting a new, clean card D* refuses to activate your receiver(s), I'd be trying to get my money back for your E-bay seller & cut your losses. ;)

All good info but can I activate this receiver with a new card like installtion person stated? What about all the receivers showing in active collections? Many questions in my post can anyone answer all of them or point in some direction where they can be answered?
