Hi,

I just recently got a S3 for my house (tivo rewards) and I am not currently at home(at college). My family are total computer idiots, and the installer is scheduled to come on Thursday.

My question: Will the installer hook up the tivo if he/she is asked to? The hookup would be exactly the same as our current cablevision SA dvr(which is an awful unit).

Worst case scenario I can have my neighbor hook it up for them, but they will freak because that will mean no TV(digital cable) on the plasma between wed night and thurs when the installer comes

EDIT: btw, is there an ethernet cable included in the box?

I use Cablevision monmouth county. I had it all plugged in, and at the correct screen. BUT, I also kept the HD cable box, I still have it hooked up now, on another set of input jacks. (the Tivo is hooked up to HDMI, the cable box thru component). This way, if the Tivo messed up, I was still set to view HD cable, plus husband wants to use the calevision remote and wont learn Tivo! (And, I can still order IO, but I never do)

So, if you have extra input sources, you might be ok.......

My cableguy was great, it was his first Tivo install, but I watched him like a hawk. I made sure all the stations were working on cablecard 1 before I let him install cable card 2 for example. I handled the Tivo remote during the install, not him.

For now, I am keeping the HD cable box hooked up. For my non technical family members, and I am the geek, 48 year old MOM! I love new technology, my family and friends think I am nuts.

Will the installer hook it up, if asked? Probably, and they will probably charge you a seperate install charge, similar to hooking up a VCR (about $20).

I'd have your neighbor do it, or if your family will be freaked out, walk them through how you want it set up (type of connections, inputs, etc.).

And, no, there is no Ethernet cable included in the box. Composite, component (video only), and HDMI cables are included, along with phone.
