Does anyone have a good recommendation for a replacement fan for the SAT-T60? Preferably one that helps the machine run cooler and/or quieter than the stock fan.

I havn't checked but is it the same as a pc power supply fan, if so
go to a pc parts store and get a ball bearing one.

Weaknees.com sells fans for TiVos.

Many computer stores sell suitable fans. The fans dimensions are 60mm X 60mm X 25mm. The computer store fans generally have a 3 pin power plug instead of the 2 pins on the SAT-T60 so you may need to connect the red and black pins and disregrad the other one.

When connected to the motherboard, the fan runs at reduced voltage and thus slower. And quieter. Cooler implies increased airflow, and there's no free lunch. Some fans are slightly better than others, however. I had the best luck with low-flow (and thus quiet) ADDA fans. You can also get an adapter to run the fan off of the hard disk connector - it will be noisier but move much more air.

The problem with the S1 DTiVos is that the fan is internal and doesn't do a good job of exhausting hot air. Elevating the TiVo a half inch or so with something under the feet can make a remarkable difference, as that's where the vents are.
