I got the Series three the week it came out, but could not get TWC here until this morning. The tech showed up and installed the two cable cards - it seemed to go fine, but when he called in to activate the cards TWC said the server was backed up and it would take 2-3 hours before the cards were activated. 6 Hours later they still were not on. I called TWC and the tech said they were showing on his system as "active". I have picture on channels 2 to about 34, but nothing above that.
Has anyone else had any problems with getting these activated? Any ideas I can try? TWC tech support basically had no ideas other than rebooting the system and also redoing the guided setup (both of which I have done twice).

Well one problem is your installer didn't follow instructions. You are supposed to get CC#1 fully authorized and working with Test Channels before installing CC#2. By your description it sounds like he simply popped both cards into their respective slots and then took off to have them authorized later... good luck getting it to work that way.

Hi.
I don't have any info other then in our area TWC is going to readjust all the channels on Nov. 7. TWC told me this will cause them to be very "busy" and for logjams to occur. (not too bad of a log jam though.)
I hope this is a case of you just have to wait.
Hope you don't have to have the tech out there again simply because he did not press the cards in hard enough for some such.

Were you even able to tune in any channels during the test sequence? If not that could be bad cards or a bad signal. I’m in Santa Monica (old adelphia) and I get a lot of tiling during primetime due to week signal strength. TWC says they know about it and that they working on it as part of the integration.
In any event, the only real fix is to have a tech come out for another card install and to check your signal strength.

There's no technical reason to have to do them separately... It's just conceptually easier to do them separately - pretend you're installing two different cablecard TVs, which is what is should be from the cable companies perspective. It's way easier to confuse serial numbers/host IDs/cablecard IDs if you do them at the same time. With the wait times people are reporting for the installer to call back to the mother-ship, I wouldn't want to wait on hold twice.
Both my S3 installs had the both cards inserted at the same time, and each worked flawlessly.

TWC is sending a tech back out tomorrow. I agree that the "one at a time" thing is just a logistic issue. Both cards are in and I get picture on channels 2-30. WHen I go into the Cable Card Service Menus "Conditional Access" it says Connected: YES, Enabled by CP: no. I am guessing that it's not getting the activation signal from TWC for some reason.
When these go active, do thay get an IP address? Can someone with an active S3 check theirs? Go to Settings-Remote,CableCard,Devices-CableCardDecoder-CableCard1-CableCardMenu-IPService and tell me if you have any IP info or if everything is showing zeroes?
Thanks so much for your feedback.

Both my S3 installs had the both cards inserted at the same time, and each worked flawlessly. From the many CableCard threads it seems pretty critical that the CableCards are done 1 at a time to ensure good results. The installations are troublesome enough as it is even when following instructions to the letter... deviating from them is just asking for trouble.
