Our 3-4 year old SAT-T60 started misbehaving last night by starting video/audio freezes for several seconds and transitioned into spontaneous reboots every 5-8 minutes after a while.. I've got the thing unplugged and plan to disassemble it tonight if possible -- I'm assuming I've got an HD that is on its way out.. To that end, I believe I've got at least two options for resurrecting this thing :
Clone the existing drive and put the contents on a new (larger) drive
Use the InstantCake ISO image to start over from scratch on a new drive
IF my drive is in fact failing, what's the chance that the clone process will get a bad image that will not work properly on the new drive (due to reading bad/corrupt files)? Are my better bets just to fork over the $20 for the InstantCake ISO image and go that route? I may take this thing down from it's shelf and find lots of dust-n-grime that was causing it to overheat, but that's a best-case scenario (and easy to resolve)!
Thanks!
