Hi all,
I've got a Series1 DirecTivo (Hughes GXCEB0TD) that I've had since Jan '02. ($250 lifetime subscription was one of the best decisions I ever made!) I've replaced the HD w/a 120GB one to extend my recording time to 106 hrs but haven't done any other hacking. Ever since I moved to my current residence I haven't had it hooked up to phone line since there's no jack in the room and don't want a 50-ft phone cords lying around.

I have no problems with this setup; guide updates fine, I can order PPV w/remote fine, and I don't/won't ever subscribe to sports packages. In other words, everythings cool. (479 days w/o phone connect, btw.)

I've been doing some forum reading here and noticed that there's a 3.5 update (currently running 3.1.0c2-01-1-031) that has some purported improvements like better Now Playing/Guide responsiveness and reorganization of menus. There's been talk about whether LBA48 is supported in the new version but it's a non-issue for me at this time.

What I want to know is this: are there any other things I should know about the 3.5 update? Are there any more current updates that will be installed that I haven't noticed? All I have to do is plug in the phone line and eventually the update will be DLed and installed, right? Please help me not wade through 1000s of posts....many thanks!

Yes, you should be able to plug in a phone line and get the update. It might not happen on the first dial-in, but give it some time.

Will the update screw-up my extended space?
