Hi all,

My homeowners gave me a few days notice to move my dish because of roof contruction. The local DirecTV installer already flaked on 3 appointments and I'm running out of time.

I'm trying to find options in the likely event my installer doesn't show up today.

Anyone know of an installer (or anyone w/ experience) who would be available on Sunday to move my dish? I'm in the LA area, specially WLA/Westwood.

Again, this is a TENTATIVE need in case I'm flaked on AGAIN (3 timess already). It's a flat roof w/ elevator access, so this is an easy job. I basically need to move the dish off of the roof surface to the elevator "closet".

Thanks.

Just get yourself a wrench and go up at the last minute and unbolt the dish and cable and take it back you your place. Put the cable out of the way of the roofers so they won't take some wire nippers to it to get it out of their way. Watch recorded shows until the installer does show up and let him replace the dish onto the elevator closet.
It's gonna be pretty hard to find anybody who would agree to be on "standby" on Sunday. You would be asking them to sit around all day with no other work lined up, with the "hope" that your guy flakes and you would pay him his regular rate. And if the installer shows the guy has wasted his day for zip, not a very good prospect for him. :(

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm more looking for an installer w/ a slow day who might be available versus getting someone scheduled for nothing. Or, I'd be willing to pay a hobbyist willing to lend a hand.

I totally agree w/ you in regards to not making a bogus appointment, and I wouldn't want to waste anyone's time, as I can totally understand as my time has been wasted for the past 3 days.

Thanks again. And more advice would be welcome!
